CHILDREN'S TAEKWONDO
At World Taekwondo Academy, we teach Taekwondo as art of a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle. The classes are disciplined, but friendly. The programs designed to cover the required curriculum, and develop self-esteem, leadership and character at the same time.
FIVE REASONS TO ENROLL YOUR CHILD IN A TAEKWONDO PROGRAM
1. Physical Fitness - Childhood obesity is epidemic in America. We've all heard that, and see it as our children spend more time sitting - in classrooms, in front of computers, or playing video games. Taekwondo classes are great for getting even the most sedentary kids moving. Because there is less competition and the environment is very positive, it gives all children a chance to be their very best. Taekwondo can help improve cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, balance, strength and overall energy levels, and is the perfect off-season activity for most children, and even the most active young athletes.
2. Life and Social Skills - Taekwondo training reinforces the lessons being taught in the home. These skills include discipline, self control, patience, confidence, courage etc, and are critical skills for future success. The challenges presented in the training studio provide opportunities for our children to learn to push through difficult tasks, to accept responsibility for their actions, to make informed decisions and to develop strong teamwork and leadership skills.
3. Self -Defense - Self defense is the most obvious reason that should come to mind when considering enrolling a child in Taekwondo. The focus of a good children's Taekwondo class, while still teaching self defense movements, should be on conflict resolution, personal responsibility and avoidance. World Taekwondo Academy instructors continually emphasize that the best self-defense doesn't involve fighting at all, but learning to recognize approaching or pending danger, resolve conflicts and avoid situations and behaviors that put them at risk.
4. Behavior Issues - Many parents turn to Martial Arts when their child is acting out at home or in school. Many professionals recommend Taekwondo for children having troubles as well. Focus, self-control, demeanor and respect are what most of these parents are looking to improve. Studies have proven that a good Taekwondo program will have a positive impact on these aspects of most children's behavior.
5. A Safe After School Activity - Most of us don't want our children home alone after school, and don't want them to be in questionable after school activities either. Our martial arts program provides a safe, wholesome after school activity that combines fitness and self-defense with information about healthy eating and strong study habits
